Both are excellent but for Lagos specifically, here’s the honest breakdown:-
Reliability: Both are very reliable. The Camry has a slight edge for the 2018 model — the 2.5L engine is virtually bulletproof. The Accord’s 1.5T (turbocharged) has had oil dilution issues reported in hot climates — worth knowing for Nigeria’s heat.
Spare parts: Camry wins clearly. Toyota parts are everywhere in Ladipo, Nnewi, and every mechanic’s shop in Nigeria. Accord parts are available but less so, and often more expensive.
Fuel consumption in Lagos traffic: Very similar. Expect 6–8km per litre in heavy Lagos traffic for both. The Accord 1.5T can be slightly better on express roads.
Resale value: Camry wins again. It holds value better in Nigeria because demand is higher. When you want to sell, Camry buyers are everywhere.
Driving experience: Accord is sportier, better handling, more modern interior feel for the 2018 model. If driving enjoyment matters to you, Accord edges it.
Verdict for Lagos: If reliability, cheap maintenance, and easy resale are your priorities — Camry. If you want a more enjoyable drive and don’t mind slightly higher parts cost — Accord. Both will serve you well.
