Lessons from owning a BMW in Nigeria
Here I will be sharing my experience from owning two BMWs in Nigeria.
First car: E90 328i (2007)
Second car: F25 Xdrive28i (2011/2012)
Lesson 1:
Do not take your car to just any mechanic.
Lesson 2:
Learn to do basic diagnostics yourself (will save you boatload of money).
Lesson 3:
Try to make friends with other BMW owners so you can share ideas.
Lesson 4:
Be willing to fix things yourself without having to take it to the mechanic.
Lesson 5:
Learn to take advantage of the onboard computer and diagnostic systems.
Lesson 6:
Get an OBDII scanner. I can't stress this enough.
Lesson 7:
Do not drive aggressively when you go to a new town/city without much BMWs on the road (If you break something in your car, you need to be sure there is a mechanic that can fix your car) - Cities with few BMWs on the road usually don't have many BMW mechanics.
